The Department
The Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and Nova Scotia Fisheries and Aquaculture (formerly Agriculture and Fisheries) provides services to the province's agriculture and fishing sectors –– two of the biggest economies in the province's coastal and rural regions.

The Provincial Update on Auditor General Recommendations shows government's progress as of May 31, 2012 in addressing recommendations outlined in previous Auditor General Reports. The Department of Agriculture has made every effort to address the Auditor General's recommendations to further strengthen its meat inspection program and continue to improve the health protection of Nova Scotians. The department's efforts are outlined in its May 2012 report.
