Labour Market Agreement for Persons with Disabilities
Also known as LMAPWD, (and formerly referred to as the Employability Assistance for Persons with Disabilities Program - EAPD) this program offers services like these to support people with disabilities:
- skills assessment
- career counseling
- job skills training
- help to go to school
- disability supports
Eligibility
You may be eligible for LMAPWD even if you are not eligible for Income Assistance.
You may be eligible if these things are true:
- you are a person with a disability
- your disability stops you from going to work right now
- you are at least 16 years of age when you apply for LMAPWD
- you are a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant
- you live in Nova Scotia
- you can no longer do the work you have been trained to do
- your disability gets in the way of taking training which would lead to work
- the services at LMAPWD will make a difference to your ability to look for work
Next steps
Contact the nearest Community Services Office. You will be asked to meet with a caseworker. You must apply early in the calendar year if you want to take a post-secondary program in the fall. You must complete an LMAPWD application form. This will include a medical report from your doctor.
