Waterfront Development Corporation
Waterfront Development develops the strategic potential of waterfronts in Halifax, Dartmouth, Bedford and Lunenburg. It’s our job to foster the creation of waterfronts that drive economic opportunity, enhance tourism, provide experiences, and reflect and protect our marine heritage. The Halifax and Lunenburg waterfronts are the two most visited destinations in Nova Scotia.
Public and private investment in the past 35 years has been extensive and critical to the success of the waterfronts ranging from Bishop's Landing in Halifax, Ferry Terminal Park, Admiralty Place and Chelton Ham in Dartmouth and DeWolfe Park, Convoy Quay and South Jetty in Bedford.
Current development projects include Queen's Landing on the Halifax waterfront and Dockside Development in Bedford. The Corporation engages with public and private sector organizations, and with the public at large, in planning projects that contribute to the development of world-class waterfronts.
Waterfront Development recently completed its 17th consecutive year of generating a financial surplus, allowing the corporation to reinvest more than $30 million in public infrastructure ranging from enhanced boardwalks and trails to marina programs. Providing high quality experiences, animation and signature events are also key.
Developing waterfronts that Nova Scotians and their guests come to visit and enjoy year-round has been our largest achievement. For more information on Waterfront Development visit www.my-waterfront.ca
