Nova Scotia Electricity Marketplace Governance Committee
The Electricity Marketplace Governance Committee was established in 2002 to review the electricity marketplace in Nova Scotia and make recommendations to introduce competition in these markets in a staged and measured manner.
The committee included one representative from each of the following organizations as appointed by their respective stakeholder group:
- Canadian Federation of Independent Business
- Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters
- Consumers' Association of Canada
- Electricity Consumers Alliance of Nova Scotia
- Municipal Electric Utilities of Nova Scotia Cooperative
- Nova Scotia Power Inc.
- Renewable Energy Industries of Nova Scotia
And an observer from each of the following organizations:
- Association of Chambers of Commerce
- Nova Scotia Department of Energy
- Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board
The EMGC was chaired by Robert Fournier, a professor of oceanography at Dalhousie University.
