The province's main electricity supplier is Nova Scotia Power Inc., a publicly-traded, fully-regulated utility.

NSPI's mandate is to reliably supply the electricity energy needs of Nova Scotians at the lowest possible cost while meeting all federal and provincial environmental regulations and safety guidelines.

Nova Scotia Power Inc. is regulated by the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board.

NSPI divides its 460,000 electricity customers into three sectors: residential, commercial, and industrial.

The divisions are based on how the energy is used, how much is used, and when it is used.
