New Application launched at GeoNOVA Portal!

The GeoNOVA Program is pleased to announce a new geomatics application from the Nova Scotia Geomatics Centre in Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations.

The Coordinate Transformation Web Service is an exciting new application that offers all users of geographic data a tool for coordinate transformations between the standard Nova Scotia reference frames and projections. The Coordinate Transformation Web Service may be used by geomatics professionals to transform or re-project the coordinates in their GIS files, by surveyors to convert the coordinates of their survey points, or by the casual user to convert point locations obtained from their GPS units.

The Coordinate Transformation Web Service supports coordinate transformation among the following reference frames: North American Datum 1983 Canada Spatial Reference System (NAD83CSRS), North American Datum 1983 Original (NAD83 Original), North American Datum 1927 (NAD27), and Average Terrestrial System 1977 (ATS77). Depending upon the situation, some or all of the following coordinate types are supported: Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) Zones 19, 20, and 21, Modified Transverse Mercator (MTM) Zone 4 and 5, Nova Scotia Modified Transverse Mercator (NSMTM) Zone 4 and 5, three dimensional cartesian (X,Y,Z), ellipsoidal and geographic coordinates. Users can submit a GML file, a text file, or simply type coordinates into the application and receive results on screen or in a downloadable file.
