District Health Authorities/ IWK

Mental Health and Addiction Services for children and youth are provided by the District Health Authorities and the IWK Health Centre.  Check with you district health authority to see what services are available for children and youth in your local area.

Autism

In December of 2004 the Nova Scotia Department of Health committed to develop and implement a province wide Early Intensive Behaviour Intervention (EIBI) program for young children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Teens

Teens and young adults who think they may be suffering from depression have resources to help them.

The Department of Health launched a booklet and posters in 2005 as part of its mental health strategy to raise awareness of depression.The materials are meant to alert teens to the early signs of depression and to raise awareness about when they should seek professional help.
