A new commemorative medal has been created to mark the 2012 celebrations of the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada, and to honour Her Majesty's service and dedication to our country.
During the Diamond Jubilee year celebrations, the Diamond Jubilee Medal will be awarded to 60,000 deserving Canadians. Nova Scotians who have made significant contributions to their communities and their province, will be awarded the Diamond Jubilee Medal during ceremonies throughout the year.

The medal program is part of the Jubilee year celebrations, organized by the Government of Canada. The Chancellery of Honours, as part of the Office of the Secretary to the Governor General, administers the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal program.
