A report that will help determine whether some of the province's most pressing infrastructure needs can be met though strategic partnerships with the private sector has been completed.
In March, the province submitted several projects to be evaluated by Partnerships BC, a leader in delivering roads, health facilities and other projects through private partnerships.
"We're pleased to have reached this milestone and will now consider their expert analysis to help us decide if these projects can benefit from this kind of arrangement," said Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal Minister Murray Scott. "We'll release the report and decisions on next steps in the coming weeks."
The projects submitted for review were:
-- a consolidated court facility in Halifax
-- corrections facilities in northern Nova Scotia
-- Highway 104, Sutherlands River to Canso Causeway
-- Burnside to Sackville expressway
-- Agricultural college residences in Truro
-- court facility and municipal offices in New Glasgow
-- Joe Howe Building refit
-- the Trunk Mobile Radio System
-- VG Hospital facility replacement or upgrade
-- a new water-supply system for the Harbourside Industrial Park in Sydney
Partnerships BC reviewed each project using criteria, including market interest, ability to achieve service and program objectives over the life of the project, as well as design, construction and operations.
The province will use the report to identify projects that may be submitted for a procurement plan and detailed business case. It will include in-depth financial plans, risk analysis and focused consultation with potential private partners.
