Premier Announces New Cabinet Committee

A new government committee established to provide policy direction to government was announced today, July 9, by Premier Darrell Dexter.

Treasury and Policy Board will be separated into a Policy and Priorities Committee and a stand-alone Treasury Board.

"The new Policy and Priorities Committee will focus on the priorities of government and provide on-going policy direction," said Premier Dexter. "Treasury Board will ensure we are properly managing the province's treasury and living within our means."

Premier Dexter is the Minister of Policy and Priorities. Other committee members are:

  • Frank Corbett, vice-chair
  • Maureen MacDonald
  • Graham Steele
  • Ross Landry

Mr. Corbett, Deputy Premier, will chair the Treasury Board. Other members are:

  • Bill Estabrooks
  • Graham Steele
  • Percy Paris
  • Ramona Jennex

All appointments are effective immediately.

Premier Dexter appointed Rick Williams from Halifax as deputy minister of Policy and Priorities. Dr. Williams is a former professor at Dalhousie University and president of PRAXIS Research Inc. His appointment is effective immediately.

Gregory Keefe will remain as deputy minister of the Treasury Board and Chief Information Officer.
