Maps and descriptions of 12 percent lands for review

Government has identified possible "12 percent lands" for further review.

To provide flexibility in decision making, more land than is needed to meet the 12 percent target is included in these 12 percent selections.

These 12 percent lands are not proposed protected areas. However, government will select most of the proposed protected areas from these lands.

These maps include:

  • 12 percent areas on provincial Crown land (shown in red)
  • 12 percent areas on lands owned by major forestry companies (shown in blue)
  • existing lands that are legally protected and considered to contribute towards the 12 percent goal (shown in blue-green on the provincial map)
  • lands that are committed to be legally protected or are part of a seperate planning process (shown in purple)

The crown land base of the province is shown in green. For reference purposes each of the 12 percent lands has been given a patch number.
