Highway 113 Project

Description

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (TIR) is proposing the construction and operation of a four-lane, controlled access highway (Highway 113). The purpose of the proposed highway is to provide a more efficient means of travel for motorists between Highway 103 and Highway 102, that bypasses the Halifax urban core and relieves congestion on the Hammonds Plains Road. This highway would be 9.9 km in length.

on October 16, 2009, TIR submitted the Environmental Assessment Report for the proposed Highway 113 project for environmental assessment, in accordance with Part IV of the Environment Act.

Nova Scotia Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (TIR) is proposing the construction and operation of a four-lane, controlled access highway (Highway 113) connecting Highway 102, near Exit 3 (Hammonds Plains), and Highway 103, just west of Exit 4 (Sheldrake Lake), Halifax County.

Minister's Decision

On April 9, 2010 the Minister of Environment released a decisionPDF Download Link (PDF:419k) concerning this review. The Minister has decided to approve the undertaking in accordance with Section 40 of the Environment Act, pursuant to Part IV of the Environment Act.
