2011 United Way Campaign Video

Check out the CNS version of the 2011 United Way campaign video. Labour and Advanced Education had a little something to do with this year's theme, as the host department. Let's get to work on raising money for the many great causes that United Way supports.

2nd Annual TIR Deputy Minister's Harbour Swim

David and Kevin successfully finished their swim in record time yesterday (approx. 45 minutes), including an unscheduled trip around George's Island. There were reports that they just needed a break and got back in the boat, but I can assure you they were in the water the whole time!

The Grand Total for the swim and bbq was $3,861.50, which exceeded the goal!! Thanks to all who donated, volunteered their time, and ate a hotdog or two down at the bbq.

Building Better Communities

For over 50 years, the Government of Nova Scotia has actively contributed to the United Way of Canada. With more than 40 departments and agencies involved, each year a lead department manages the campaign.

This year, Labour and Advanced Education is the lead department..

Planning for the 2011 campaign is well underway with a particular emphasis this year on building better communities.

Provincial Government Employees Set New United Way Goal

Last year, provincial government employees in the Halifax region showed extraordinary support during their annual United Way campaign, raising more than $538,000.

This year, the department of Labour and Advanced Education is committed to helping government employees achieve a goal of $475,000 for the United Way. We are confident that employees will accept this challenge and that another successful campaign will roll-out through 2011..
